I have been writing and campaigning for gay rights in a country where gay people have no protection or equality under the law. I used a pen name to do this and had built up nearly 2,000 contacts across the globe.

Then I got a new computer and because it carried none of the Facebook cookies I had always used to log onto my page, Facebook required me to prove my identity. So my real name suddenly appeared to thousands of people and anyone who wanted to search for me.

Despite appealing through Facebook’s interminable and Kafkaesque system, a year later I am unable to use the account, which I have had to unpublish and cannot continue my campaigns for gay rights or contact my long established contacts.

I am frustrated, heartbroken and bitterly disappointed that I cannot finish the job I started. Please Facebook, reverse this nonsensical policy and provide an easy to navigate system to restore my pen-name account.
